Bart Hess

Bart hess captures vein like/linear shapes from reflections onto plastic, i really liked this idea of creating the lines from reflections. As our group were looking at the veins of the human body, this seems like a good artist that may help us. Also the Blow up image is quite interesting, it reminds me of the mould that i tried to create earlier on my samples. Maybe i could combine both mould and line together? I like the simplicity of the image, although he has just used balloons its really effective.

Nikki Stott

I came across this jewellery designer whose work looks similar to the line stitch and drawing i did earlier. The liney design she has is effective and does look like veins from the human body. I could possibly create my own similar to this by using dissolvable fabric which means ill be left with just the line stitch which would be quite interesting. I could also show my process of the dissolvable fabric coming away and leaving just the stitches left.

Hussein Chalayan- Buried Collection

Hussein Chalayan’s buried graduate collection ‘The Tangent Flows’ 1993 shows a beautiful outcome of serentipitous design. 

I like the rustiness and faded colours hes captured in the garment. It fits in with the idea of change and maybe this could be something i could experiment with and see how my end results turn out.

Fyodor Golan

This designer was mentioned in the Matthew Willamson talk, they won the fashion fringe competition. This collection is called Flowers of evil, they focus on the growth of flowers and nature.We've been thinking of ideas that are focusing on process and change so this might help? I like the simplicity of their work and they've used processes which were focusing on such as hand embroidery and laser cutting.

Fluid shifts and the designers sultry signature floor sweeping gowns were blanketed with laser cut silk, Circles each one individually hand sewn on, whilst intricate embroidered flowers crept onto gauzy tulles with a burst of colour, coursing from canary yellow, poppy red and emerald green through to purple and fuchsias, revealing and ccncealing the body lending texture and a sense of drama throughout. 

Jewel encrusted spines sparkled and twisted up backs, whilst couture techniques were combined with modern, high tech-methods of laser cutting and leather engraving reapplied onto net and black duchess satin to create organic shapes on the body.

This is an artist i came across when i was looking at the words "Slow is Beautiful". I felt as though it relates to what we were talking about looking at the process of something? or how something develops/grows? Laser cutting, acid printing and etching fabric, Eunsuk Hur's ethereal, multi-layered creations are already making a name for themselves in fashion and interior design. Intrigued by the way plants and animals respond to their environments as they grow, Hur's designs themselves adapt and change depending on how they're worn. She expressly designs each interchangeable system of textile pieces to engage the customer and expand their opportunity for personal expression while still maintaining Hur's original design concept. The outcome of her deeply considered garments are irresistibly touchable, textured pieces for wearing or using as a home furnishing.
